Understanding The Purpose Of 12 Georgia Regional Commissions As A Small Business

As a small business in the State of Georgia, it is important to understand exactly why a Regional Commission exist and what is its purpose.

That being said, there are twelve (12) Regional Commissions in the State of Georgia.  They serve Georgia’s city and county governments by functioning as multicounty planning and development agencies.

According to New Georgia's Encyclopedia, "Georgia’s RCs are involved in a broad range of activities related to coordinated and comprehensive planning, land-use development, historic preservation, aging services, revolving loan funds, business retention and development, affordable housing, tourism, workforce development, coordinated transportation, geographic information systems, and disaster-mitigation planning.

1) Northwest Georgia
2) Georgia Mountains
3) Atlanta Regional Commission
4) Three Rivers
5) Northeast Georgia
6) Middle Georgia
7) Central Savannah River Area
8) River Valley
9) Heart of Georgia Altamaha
10) Southwest Georgia
11) Southern Georgia
12) Coastal

The 12 Georgia Regional Commissions work hand in hand with one another as well.  Information Technology is one of many things they share in common when it comes to the growth and development of the State of Georgia to say the very least.
